Proper grounding of the high-voltage testing instrument is an absolutely essential precondition for all high-voltage tests. The power circuit is closed through the grounding, i.e., the test instrument is first connected to the not-insulated, conductive section of the test object, and the test object is then connected to the grounding potential.
